Lance Cpl. Richard L. Kash, 18, was shot while on patrol of a top-secret sector of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet’s Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek, S.C. Pvt. Randall Christian, 18, drowned during a water survival test at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. He was a former lifeguard. Their fathers, Michael Kash of Pear Blossom, Calif., and Artie Christian of Dallas have agreed to work together and with other families to “seek jus tice” in their sons’ deaths. Christian, an investigator with the district attorney’s office in Dallas, said his and Kash’s cases are similar because of “the lies that they (the military) tell you and expect you to believe.” He has contacted Texas con gressman Jim Mattox, who also is unwilling to accept the Marine Corps’ investigation in the Christian case. “It’s pretty obvious that the investigation by the Marine Corps leaves in doubt the com petence of the Marine Corps to police itself,” Mattox said. “The matter should not be left where Corps have led to investigation with questionable results. ;| “If they (the Marines) exone| ated themselves in the otliil events the same way they exons erated themselves in this situ I tion, then 1 question all tholl investigations,” the congrcs I man said by telephone from hi I Washington office.
