IS-YEAR-OLDS — WE ADMIT MIIMOKH! 3 Miles North of Biyan on Tabor Hoad By JOHNA JO MAURER Battalion Reporter In true Twelfth Man fashion, a senior electrical engineering ma jor came to the aid of the Texas A&M archery team. When one archer was ill and unable to attend the Nov. 6 Lon ghorn 1200 Tournament in Au stin, Coach Frank Thomas asked Ruth Grove to he the fifth mem ber of TAMU’s women’s team. Grove was at the Austin tourna ment to watch her husband Randy compete on the men’s team. Texas A&M won the Longhorn 1200 by 31 points. “I didn’t feel like a hero or any thing, Grove said. “It never real ly hit me what I was doing. “I think we should always he ready if somebody needs us. It’s nice to be able to help. To qualify for tournament com petition, five male archers and five female archers must he present to shoot. Their scores are totalled to determine the winning team. Ten minutes before the tourna ment began, Thomas asked Ruth to shoot. “I knew Ruth had taken begin ning archery last semester, so I took along an extra bow,” he said. “Just before we were to shoot, I suggested that she should shoot for us.” Ruth complied. “They only had four girls, and they needed five,” she said. “Without five, they couldn’t qual ify, but they didn’t tell me that until after I shot. “Everything was new. In be ginning archery, I shot a 20-pound bow, and 30 arrows was the most I’d ever shot.” In the Longhorn 1200, archers shoot a total of 120 arrows over a two-day period with a 25-pound bow. “Without Ruth, we couldn’t have won the overall or the women’s trophy,” Thomas said. m Sound Waves 4P>~a GOT A PROBLEM WITH CAR STEREO INSTALLATIONS? • Large selection of car stereos • Watch your favorite movies while waiting • Video movies rented for just $2.50 This weeks’ specials 3-way 120 watt Majestic Speakers reg. $129.95 now $59.95 60-watts Majestic EQ/Booster reg. $59.95 now $39.95 Villa Maria at Texas Bryan 779-0065 BEVERAGE IRISH STYLE INStANT COFFEE BEVERAGE Suisse \joclRi || Irish CMocba CMin t fc/tna I TALK IT OVER,WITH A CREAMY-RICH CUP OF ORANGE CAPPUCCINO.
