United Press International WASHINGTON — White House press secretary James Brady may be able to visit home for Thanksgiving and could be , permanently discharged from the hospital by then, one of his doctors said Tuesday. Dr. Dennis O’Leary who last isaw Brady Friday, said Brady is 1 making very good progress in his j recovery from a gunshot wound in the head which he suffered during the March 30 assassination attempt on President Reagan. Brady has been a patient at George Washington University Hospital since the shooting, but since September has been allowed brief visits home — returning to the hospital at night. Brady’s wife Sarah told the ; Washington Post she and her hus- ! band hope he will be home perma nently before Thanksgiving. Mrs. Brady said he has made tremendous progress in the last four weeks and everything seems to be right on track. O’Leary echoed her optimism, but said “we can’t be absolutely definitive” when Brady will be permanently discharged. Monday’s far-reaching ruling by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Universal Studios and Walt Disney Productions had the right to sue Sony, four retail ers, an advertising agency and a viewer for unfairly taping copyr ight TV shows. The three-member appeals panel said the “fair use” doctrine, which allows use of copyright materials for teaching, news re porting, scholarship, research and other non-competitive uses did not include home video recording -even if it is for personal enjoy ment, Kengi Tamiya, executive vice president of Sony Corp. of Amer ica, said in a statement Monday night that his firm would pursue the matter in the interest of the consumer and this important in dustry to the Supreme Court if necessary. A remedy offered by the appeals court was an injunction against further manufacture of home video recorders.
