All-University Track
Beverly Heck and Johnita Davis each won an
individual event while joining forces in three re
lays to lead the Oreos to a first place in the
Women’s Division of the All-University Track
Meet last Sunday evening. Their efforts also
helped the Oreos to a first place tie with the
Kangaroos in the Co-Rec Division.
Double wins by Thomas Sanders, Ernest Jack-
son, and Jimmy Williams led Cain Hall to the
Men’s championship. Mosher and Davis-Gary
were the runnerups in the Women’s and Men’s
Divisions, respectively.
Heck topped the field in the 400 meter dash
while Davis outjumped the competition in the
Long Jump for their individual honors. The two
were joined by Patti Sloat and Debra Minifee in
the 400 meter relay, Beth Stallsmith and Pattie
Miller in the 1600 meter relay, and Thomas Brow
and Rodney Paris in the Co-Rec 800 meter relay.
Miller was the only double winner in the Wom
en’s Division as she also captured the 1600 meter
run.
In the Men’s competition, four double winners
highlighted the action. Ernest Jackson, Thomas
Sanders and Jimmy Williams captured the 100
meter dash, the 200 meter dash and the 110 meter
low hurdles, respectively before joining forces to
capture the 400 meter relay. Davis-Gary’s Steve
Johnson ran away from the field in the 400 meter
dash and then teamed with William Wynn, David
Sims, and Jeff Odom to capture the 1600 meter
relay.
Distance winners were Mike Reither in the 800
meter, Craig Wiese in the 1600 meter, and Bart
Braden in the Master’s Mile.
Since this was the first year for the “metric
