SEPT. 1 — Tennis player Trey Schutz wins Austin Labor Day In vitational Tournament. SEPT. 3 — Women’s volleyball team loses three straight to Brigham Young University in Houston. SEPT. 4 — Volleyball team loses three of four games to Houston in Houston. SEPT. 5 — Volleyball team wins two of three matches at the Arlington Classic... Men’s soccer team loses to Sam Houston State, 2-1 ... Aggie football team defeats Ole Miss, 23-20 in Oxford, Miss. SEPT. 8 — A&M football team ranked 19th in the country by UPI. SEPT. 9 — Men’s golf team finishes second in Fall SWC Tourna ment. SEPT. 13 — Women’s volleyball team splits in four games at the second annual Texas A&M Invita tional ... Men’s soccer team wins against Stephen F. Austin, 2-1 ... Football team loses to Georgia, 42-0 Brian Joelson ... Women’s softball team sweeps through San Antonio Invitational un defeated for championship. SEPT. 14 — Men’s soccer team shuts out the Monterrey (Mexico) Primos 5-0 on the drill field. SEPT. 16 — Men’s team defeats the Primos again, 3-1. SEPT. 18 — Women’s golf team takes fourth in the Susie Maxwell Berning All-College Classic in Okla homa City. SEPT. 20 — Penn State beats the Aggies in football, 25-9 ... Men’s soc cer team beats Baylor, 3-2... Softball team takes second tournament of the year, the Stephen F. Austin Invita tional. SEPT. 26 — TCU defeats men’s soccer team, 1-0 ... Aggie women’s volleyball team wins only four of six matches on road trip ... Men’s cross country team finishes second at Rice Invitational ... Sophomore Brian Joelson wins Northwest Sectional Grand Prix tennis championship in Seattle. SEPT. 30 — Men’s golf team wins Centenary Invitational Tournament in Shreveport, La. OCT. 4 — Aggie football team thrashes Texas Tech, 41-21 behind David Beal’s four TDs. OCT. 11 — Houston takes win over Ag football team, 17-13 in two- day game ... Aggie Liliana Fernandez wins championship at April Sound Tennis Invitational at Lake Conroe ... Denise Erlich and August Skopic take fencing titles at YMCA Dad’s Club Tournament in Houston ... Buck Sullivan and Lynda Brady take firsts in A&M Invitational Pistol meet as Aggies win team title. NOV. 9 — Polo team beats Texas, 2-0. NOV. 12 — Women’s volleyball team beats Lamar ... Ag men’s golf team is fourth at Harvey Penick In vitational in Austin. NOV. 13 — Volleyball team loses to the Inde Rebels, the Mexican Vol leyball national champions. NOV. 15 — Men’s team handball squad places second at Aztec Cup international meet in Mexico City ... Women’s basketball team beats Southeast Louisiana 89-83 to start season ... Men’s soccer team defeats Lamar 6-1 to raise record to 7-3-3 ... SMU wins close dual meet from men’s swimming team, 63-50; wins 74-37 over Aggie women ... Arkansas slips past Texas A&M 27-24 in foot ball at Fayetteville ... Women’s soc cer club places fifth at national tour nament in Colorado ... Aggie wrest ling squad wins the Luther Jones Classic at A&M, defeating Texas, Southwest Texas State and LeTour- neau College (La.). NOV. 17 — Texas Southern is beaten by women’s basketball team, 76-65 in Houston. David Beal NOV. 22 — 15th-ranked men’s basketball team beats Windsor Bas ketball Club of Canada in exhibition ... Lacrosse team wins 16-4 ... Aggie football team defeats TCU, 13-10 ... Women’s tennis team comes in fourth at SWC Fall Meet at the Lake way Tennis Center in Austin. NOV. 24 — Baylor defeats Aggie Ladies basketball team, 85-61 ... Wrestlers finish second at University of Texas Open in Austin. NOV. 28 — Aggie men’s basket ball team knocks off the University of Maine in Bangor, 66-57. NOV. 29 — A&M 24, Texas 14 in football upset in Austin. DEC. 2—Aggies beat TSU, 61-50 in men’s basketball. DEC. 4 — Women’s basketball squad is crunched by UCLA in Los Angeles, 97-64. DEC. 6 — USC beats Aggie Ladies in basketball, 112-42 ... Women’s soccer team takes Stephen F. Austin, 3-1 in Nacogdoches ... Joelson gets to the finals of qualifying rounds for NCAA Indoor meet. DEC. 8— Men’s basketball team raises record to 3-0 with 75-58 defeat of Sam Houston State. Aggie volleyball team takes 2nd in SWC The Texas A&M University women’s volleyball team lost a five- set battle to Texas in the finals of the SWC Tournament at Lubbock last Saturday, thus closing out their sea son play with a 24-37 record. In preliminary play, the Aggies lost to Texas, 3-15, 15-17. Then they beat Texas Tech, 16-14, 15-13, and defeated Baylor, 16-14, 15-4. In the hotly contested finals, Texas won the first set, 17-15. The Aggies came back to win the next two, 15-4 and 15-9, but Texas evened the match with a 15-5 win and then took the title with a 15-4 victory. Texas Tech finished third and Baylor was fourth. Golfers 7th, 8th in event The Texas A&M teams of Bart Cobb-Richard Cromwell and Kim Bauer-Monica Welsh finished eighth and seventh respectively in their di visions of the Bluebonnet golf meet at Columbia Lakes this past weekend. Cobb and Cromwell shot a 210, five strokes behind champion Col orado in the men’s division. They had the best low-ball round of the second day Saturday, a 66, that put them in third place prior to Sunday’s final round, but they closed with a 73. Cobb, with a 226, finished sixth among the individual play that was won by Houston’s Ray Barr with a 214. Bauer and Welsh finished with a team score of 251 for their seventh place. SMU won with 214. Welsh had a 237 and Bauer shot 252.
