Phillips’ gifts
boost A&M
Phillips Petroleum Foundation
Inc. has presented Texas A&M Uni
versity checks totaling more than
$52,500 in support of various prog
rams, fellowships and scholarships.
The largest check presented by
Phillips, for $25,000, went to the
Center for Education and Research
in Free Enterprise. This was the
third payment of a five-year commit
ment by Phillips.
Other checks included $6,500 for
the Professional Development
Fund; $7,500 for geophysics litholo
gic interpretation; $7,500 for gradu
ate research in chemical engineer-,
ing, and $9,147 as a matching gift.

citizens of the town whose citizens had condemned diem to death

‘THE HAUNTING": A Victorian mansion dominates the lives of four
people: the anthropologist who hopes to prove the existence of the
supernatural; a young woman endowed with ESP; a neurotic; and

If you’re in good physical condi
tion and enjoy long-distance bike
riding, the Texas A&M Wheelmen’s
fourth annual “Halfast Hundred” is
for you.
The “Halfast Hundred,” a 100-
mile bike ride, is scheduled to begin
Saturday at 7:30 a.m. at Rudder
Fountain.
Wheelmen president Tom Brink
said cyclists need not be team mem
bers to participate.
“We want anyone who enjoys bi
cycle riding and likes having fun,’
Brink said.
He also said although the ride is
not a race, a trophy will be awarded
to the “halfast” rider.
“At the end of the ride, we take all
the times and average them
together,” Brink said. “The person
whose time is closest to the average
wins the trophy.”
