The A&M women’s soccer team
knocked off Rice Sunday 5-0 to raise
its season record to 4-0.
Carol Sullivan led the Aggies with
two goals, and teammates Sue Tesar,
Carol Smith and Carol Gittinger
padded the score with one goal each.
“We took 18 people up there to
play,’’ said Head Coach Rob Borge-
son. “They didn’t play quite as good
as they could. It seems Texas A&M
plays just as good as they have to.”
Sullivan’s two goals upped her fall
total to 10. Earlier this year, the
senior scored five goals in a 9-0 win
over Trinity, and three in a 4-3 vic
tory over Stephen F. Austin.
The Aggies travel to Austin Satur
day to take on Texas. Sunday, the
team makes its way to Waco for a
match against Baylor.
“We’ve started out a little stronger
this year than we have in the past,”
said Borgeson.
Texas A&M has scored 18 goals in
its four games.

If the worth of an Aggie home foot
ball game ticket were judged solely
by the team’s performance, Texas
A&M fans would certainly have a
valid reason to cry for a refund.
Usually teams do better at home
than on the road, but the Aggies have
been equally disappointing (1-3 at
home and 1-2 on the road) in both
places.
Thank goodness there’s more to a
game than four quarters of unin
spired play by Texas A&M. I dare say

Saturday. Both the Fightin’ Texas

For the MOB, it was history in the

College Station since 1972. The
reason was an infamous incident at
Rice Stadium in 1973.
What happened there was an on-

The Texas A&M women’s vol
leyball team had a rough weekend,
losing four of five matches in Hous
ton, after going 4-1 the preceding
week.
The Aggies met up with three of
this state’s better teams this
weekend, and though head coach
Terry Condon said she’s dis
appointed in her team’s perform
ance, she’s fortunate to have come
away with a third place finish.
This weekend, on the eve of their
California trip, the Aggie women
played what one team member call
ed sluggish volleyball at Houston’s
Melcher gymnasium, and if it wasn’t
for a gutsy comeback in their last
game against Lamar, would have
left the place without a victory.
