If he did, they suspect, he has since returned. Boyce, the son of a former FBI agent, grew up in iburban Rancho Palos Verdes. “The best information we have to date is the possibil- ofhim being here now, ” said Chuck Kupferer, who is in charge of a new task force of agents looking for Boyce. “This is an area of 20 million people. It’s not too hard to get lost here.” But Kupferer also suggested Boyce might be hiding in a communist country. “We may find him somewhere we can’t reach him,” he said. “But we’ll find him.” Investigators admitted there had been no positive sighting of the fugitive. Boyce was convicted of stealing thousands of top sec ret documents from TRW Inc., a defense contractor working on a classified satellite project for the CIA. He sold the information to Soviet agents in Mexico City for $70,000 with the help of a boyhood friend, Andrew Daulton Lee. Lee claimed Boyce was working for the CIA and lured him into participating in a complicated espionage plot aimed at providing misleading intelligence to the Rus sians. Boyce was sentenced to 40 years in prison and Lee got a life sentence. Authorities recently enlisted the help of a psychiat rist, who specializes in criminal behavior, hoping to figure out how the fugitive might try to avoid capture. The psychiatrist, who was not identified, told investi gators it was “extremely likely” that Boyce would seek and receive the aid of Soviet agents. He also suggested agents concentrate their search in Southern California. US spy suspected of selling secrets United Press International WASHINGTON — The Justice Department is investigating a for mer highly placed CIA agent on charges of selling secrets to the Russians, sources said Wednesday. According to sources close to the investigation, the suspect is David Barnett. They said evidence has been presented to a grand jury and an espionage indictment or a guilty plea is expected before the end of the week in U.S. District Court. The CIA had no comment on the story. Barnett was said to have received $100,000 from the Soviets for classified information on U.S. weapons. Barnett worked as a contract employee for the CIA from 1958 to 1963 and then as a full-time staff member of the CIA’s Directorate of Operations, which handles covert actions, the sources said. After 1970 he worked part-time for the agency. The Washington Post reported Wednesday that Barnett tried un successfully, on Soviet orders, to get a position with the Senate and House Intelligence Committees and the White House’s Intelligence Oversight Board. “It’s the first time they’ve had accusations of a CIA covert agent passing secrets to the Russians,” the newspaper quoted a source as saying. Ten of them have been found dead. Four are still missing. Two were girls, the rest boys, and their ages ranged from 7 to 15. Police, working to calm parents on the edge of hysteria in black neigh borhoods, are methodically conduct ing a door-to-door canvass through out the city — in affluent white areas as well — in search of leads. Private donations have swelled the reward fund to over $140,000, but officials said they expected only $100,000 — the original goal — would be offered for information leading to solution of the killings, and the rest would be used as re wards in other cases. Allison referred to the killer as “he,” and said “he” came from the Atlanta area, describing him as a “bully.” “I feel one of the children involved knew this person,” she said. “I didn’t get the feeling of a racial thing here, ” Allison added, because she said the killer is also black. “I don’t want to say who, what, where or when,” she said. “I will do nothing that will hurt the police in-, vestigation.” Allison stressed she had a vision of the actual killings — but she did not know if the missing children were alive or dead. “This is barbaric,” she said. “This is despicable. Nobody touches my little angels — and that’s what they are, my little angels — and gets away with it.” Allison claims she has solved 14 killings across the country. With her was Detective Sal Lubertazzi, who said “through experience, I’ve sort of learned to interpret for her. How you question her is very important. Her clues sort of get you where you’re supposed to be, and then you take over from there.” Allison said she will ride with police through the city, instructing them where to turn, based on her “feeling and mental picture’’ in search of the killer. “I was planning to stay just so many days, but if I see it taking any longer, I will stay until he is found, ” she said. e I’m relievd said. “If there i, it would pei jther railroad: 'er had — owe anybody! 10 is campaips xilish the com es the petroli n industries, prospects are a longshottk j, although Iw 34 percent oil bjective, Uioje :han (the nui: anchard force the Des ng more atteit les.’ er state repi rville, ly, trumpets ord since lie aiming sign! consumer pi state reprei fall campaign c| : primary, wl cumbentPoei t expect Gro' lout cai Cross-country Skiing in KEYSTONE Colorado Environmental Education Cost — 250.00 includes 5 days instruction 6 nights lodging 16 meals transportation Register in 216 msc Oct. 15 > Nov. 17 xoo.oo deposit required J o I N U s DOES YOUR SPIRITUAL LIFE X LEAVE SOMETHING TO BE DESIRED? ° Would you like to make more room in your life for ^ your own relationship with God? The current County Attorney has had three years to do the job, and there is no way around the fact that his record is a dismal one. ' FACT: The case backlog in the County Attorney’s office has increased 65% during the past three years. FACT: There were over twenty cases of assault on a Peace Of ficer this year. The current County Attorney has prose cuted none of them. FACT: A theft case has been dismissed from court because the current County Attorney did not show up. FACT: He has never taken a single hot check to trial, he limits himself to collecting only the easy cases. FACT: He has backlogged over 700 traffic appeals, while trying only one. FACT: Two felony DWI cases were mishandled and prose cuted as misdemeanors. Jeff Brown promises to: • Responsibly prosecute cases in both the County Court at Caw and the Justice of the Peace Courts. • Actively and vigorously prosecute those misdemeanors where prose cution is warranted. • Prosecute those who continually pass hot checks. • Prosecute those who habitually drive while intoxicated. • Organize the County Attorney’s office so work can be done quickly and efficiently. • Make himself available to the people of Brazos County.
