BLUE LAGOON (Plitt Cinema l&ll) Supposedly is a story of natural
love between two innocent adolescents — Brooke Shields and
Chris Atkins, if you can believe that. Thursday only. Rated R.
CADDYSHACK (Campus Theater) Chevy Chase, Rodney Danger-
field and Bill Murray are outstanding in this country club version of
“Animal House.” Rated R.
CHAPTER TWO (Rudder Theater) James Caan and Marsha Mason
star in Neil Simon’s story of a man trying to overcome the grief of
his first wife’s death and the thrill of finding a new love. Friday and
Saturday, 7:30 and 9:45. Rated PG.
COAST TO COAST (Manor East) Robert Blake and Dyan Cannon.
Fender-bender truck driving action for those of you who aren’t
tired of that sort of thing yet. Rated R.
OH, GOD! BOOK II (Plitt Cinema l&ll) The continuing adventures of
the Lord God, as played by George Burns. Rated PG.
ORDINARY PEOPLE (Plitt Cinema l&ll) The movie which answers
the question: Can Robert Redford direct? Starring Mary Tyler
Moore and Donald Sutherland. Sneak preview Friday, rated PG.
SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN (Rudder Theater) Sunday, 7:30. Gene Kelly
and Donald O’Connor star in one of Hollywood’s best films about
Tinseltown. Sunday at 7:30 Unrated.
SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT II (Manor East) Again Burt Reynolds
and Jerry Reed have a great time in a entertaining movie about
speeding through the South without getting caught. Rated PG.
TERROR TRAIN (Manor East) A horror film with a Halloween-type
murderer loose on a train with a fraternity party. Rated R.
THE INVISIBLE MAN (601 Rudder) Claude Rains stars as a mad
scientist turned invisible who wants to rule the world. Special
effects make this one a classic. 7:30 and 9:45 p.m. Thursday.
Unrated.
THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT (Rudder Theater) A must for rock fans of
all ages, this film chronicles the career of The Who. Friday and
Saturday midnight. Rated PG.
THE SHINING (Manor East) Stanley Kubrick’s epic horror film which
is well made but unfortunately not particularly scary. Friday and
Saturday at midnight. Rated R.
Live Entertainment:
BACKSTAGE: Kevin Matheny will perform Thursday. Bart and
Keith, a guitar-ventriloquist team, will appear Friday and guitarist
Ken Appelt will perform Saturday. Cover is 750 each night.
GRINS: Eaglebone Whistle will perform Thursday and Friday. Satur
day the music will be provided by Vince Bell.
LAKEVIEW: Dennis Ivey and the Waymen will appear Thursday
night. Cover is $1 for women and $3 for men, with nickel draft
beer. Saturday night Ivey and his band will share the stage with
Roy Robbins and the Availables, from Waco. Cover is $3 per
person.
ROSEWOOD JUNCTION: The Wommack Brothers Band will per
form Thursday through Saturday. There is no cover Thursday
night, and $1 cover both Friday and Saturday.
THE TEXAS HALL OF FAME: Thursday night, the Texas High
Riders will perform. Cover is $2. On Friday, the Debonnaires will
play, for a $2 cover. Crossfire, from Austin, will appear Saturday
night. Cover is $3.
TJ’s WHISKEY BAR: Fine Line will appear Friday and Saturday
night. Admission is $2.
