If he was so good, why did he get such a rotten deal when he lived in Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem? Why would a pagan Roman soldier watch him die and say he was the Son of God after a pagan judge con demned him after saying he found no fault in him? And before that, why did a voice from heaven say, “This is my beloved Son whom I really approve. Hear him!” Where can we hear His voice today if not in the Bi ble? After all, didn’t he give his approval to all the Old Testament by reading from all parts of it and saying it was perfect? And didn’t he give his authority to the writ ers of the New Testament so it would be an equally perfect writing? If this is God’s Word, shouldn’t we take it more seriously? First test awaits Ags Saturdi By RICHARD OLIVER Sports Editor For three long, hot weeks, the Texas A&M University football team has worked under the hot College Station sun to try and gel as a team. Now, it’s time to see if the sweat has paid off. The test comes Saturday, when the maroon and white face the Ole Miss Rebels in Jackson, Miss, at 7:30 p.m. Is Texas A&M ready? If you ask quarterback Mike Mos ley, the answer is yes. “We re going to give you some thing good to write about,’’ he said Wednesday. And no one is more qualified to speak on the Aggies than Mosley. The senior starter comes back stron ger and heavier than ever before, and his attitude reflects one word — “I weighed 167 when I came to A&M, and now I’ll play at about 195,’’ he said. “And I’m two steps faster now. I ran a 4.31 in the 40 last spring. I’m not disappointed with my career at A&M, but I would like to play on a championship team and go to the Cotton Bowl. That’s what ev- Number One in Aggieland Snook,Texas Saturday night ALVIN CROW and the Pleasant Valley Boys also DESPERADOS FREE BEER 6-8 p.m. 7 p.m. Tickets *5°° Ail Courts locations ery quarterback in the conference wants.’’ “Quarterbacks that fast don’t come along like that except once every eight, 10or 12 years,” says Mississip pi coach Steve Sloan, formerly of Texas Tech. “Normally you see a guy with speed like that, he’s a wide re ceiver or a defensive back. Now if he couldn’t throw, it would negate some of that speed. But a guy that can run that fast and throw as well creates a lot of problems. ” Although Mosley comes back pre pared and confident for the Saturday matchup, it will be an interesting battle. Aggie Head Coach Tom Wilson has said himself the Aggies will “not be an overpowering football team, and the youth of the group may pose some potential problems. Of 89 players Wilson has on scho larship, 61 are either freshmen or sophomores. “There’s no one on our squad going around making cocky re marks,” Wilson said. “But, I’m very excited about this team and I think it has a chance to become a good one.” The Rebels are riding a streak of sorts. In eight opening games in Jackson, Ole Miss has never lost, and overall over the past five years, the red and blue are 12-6. The Aggies, however, before they lost last year’s opener to Brigham Young, 18-17, had won nine straight] games. Offense may be the i game for both clubs.
