Lenny Bruce lives ([1^]

The work of the late social satirist
Lenny Bruce will be relived this
weekend in College Station.
When Bruce died in 1966, The
Washington Post said in an editorial:
“Lenny Bruce believed in free
speech with a passion that was often
masked by the jokes he told. He was
a social satirist; one of the boldest
and the best.”
“Lenny Bruce — For Adults
Only,” featuring William Weldon,
will be presented at the Backstage
Coffee House on June 28 and 29.
The Texas Actors Theater is spon
soring the show, which takes the
form of a night club act and focuses
on Bruce’s work, unlike the Broad
way show and film Lenny which fo
cused on his life.
Weldon has arranged the shot
from Bruce’s best ni;
and his autobiography, Howtolal arter, accordt
Dirty and Influence People.
Weldon, a director of TAT \4
recently performed in Richard III,
The Duck Variations and Line, hi
been performing Bruce’s
more than a decade.
