It was Sigma Phi Epsilon’s Fourth Annual Fight Night Saturday! the Brazos County Pavilion, and the action was hot and heavy, In the boxing ring were two heavyweights, one blond and on iouth C( redhead, and both were panting heavily. Perhaps the first thing! consider when watching these students slug it out is that no involved. It is hit as hard as you can, and pray you hit the guy infronl! lighly si re expe iely, to nent Texasi you and not the referee. The redhead landed a glove squarely on the blond s nose crowd yelled excitedly. I turned to the girl beside me. “Are you enjoying this?" I asked, wincing as I heard the twogrunla they pummeled everything in sight. “Yes, I think so,” she said, pausing. “1 watched it last night, decided I’d come back tonight. I don’t know why, really.” I turned toward the ring quickly. The crowd was suddenly ons feet, and I noticed the redhead was in trouble. The blond pushedlii against the ropes and hit him a couple of times. But, amazingly, trapped fighter recovered and stumbled away from the punches. I watched incredulously as the fans sat down, obviously i appointed. A huge man to my left kicked the chair in front ofhiraai cursed. “God, he had him! What's he doing in there, picking cherries?' While I pondered what the heck “picking cherries” meant, ll crowd came alive again, and so did the blond. Two punches, am u ^ redhead sagged slowly to the canvas. The referee gave the eight-cooi y s fggg as the fighter stared blankly at him. The blond, obviously sensing victory, glowered from the com# The referee resumed the fight. The blond moved forward, the worn; ed fighter stumbled forward, and the impact was definitely in 4 blond’s favor. His punch caught the redhead firmly on the jaw, lifting him offlii feet and straight on his back, never to move again, for all I knew " I wouldn’t have. The huge man cheered, the girl beside me oohed and ahhed, andl policemen guffawed in amusement. The fight was over. The blond smiled wearily; even the redhead smiled. It wasalll%j : 2i. “Wow!
