The weekend in review:
Women’s Softball — Texas A&M
University knocked off the Universi
ty of Texas-Arlington Saturday after
noon, 2-1 and 3-1 behind the, as-
usual, excellent pitching of aces Lori
Stoll and Shan McDonald.
The nationally third-ranked
Aggies ended their season with a 19-
game winning streak and a 37-7 re
cord.
Stoll, 18-2, pitched a six-hitter in
the first game, but it took a run in the
bottom of the seventh to win it.
McDonald, 16-5, shut down UT-A
on four hits in the second game.
The Aggies play Wednesday night
at 7 p.m. in the opening of the
TAIAW Softball Championships, to

seven day plan is selected, and three meals each day, Monday through Friday, if the five day plan
is preferred. Each meal is served in the Commons.
Fees for each session are payable to the Controller of Accounts, Fiscal Office, Coke building.
Board fees for each plan are as follows:
Plans First Session
Seven Day - $ 160.95 June 2 through July 3
Five Day - $145.71 and
plus tax July 7 through July 9
Day students. Including graduate students may purchase either of the board
plans.
be held at Bee Creek Park in College
Station through Friday.
Women’s Tennis — The women’s
tennis team lost a disappointing
match to TCU, 8-1, Friday evening
at the varsity courts here. Elise
Richardson provided the only vic
tory for the Aggies, defeating Bar
bara Von Demleux.
In the No. 1-seed match, Aggie
Maylyn Hooton lost to TCU’s Lori
Nelson, 6-3, 6-4. In the No. 1 seed
doubles, Hooton and Terri Neutze
were defeated by Angela Bartzen
and Janie Bowen, 6-1, 6-4.
In spite of this weekend’s loss, the
women’s team has qualified for the
state championships, to be held
Wednesday in Odessa.
Annual Elephant Bowl — Satur
day the Army-Navy cadets of Texas
A&M competed against the Air
Force cadets and the Fightin’ Texas
Aggie Band. When the smoke
cleared, the Navy team had come out
on top, 27-19.
The game was held to benefit the
United Way and the American Heart
Association, and the money will be
distributed to these organizations
next week, with a small amount of
money held back to help, the
Elephant Bowl continue next year.
The Elephant Bowl wishes to be
independent from the University,
and to perpetuate itself through a
small percentage of the input from
the game itself.
Approximately 750 vocal people
watched the nip-and-tuck battle, and
over $1100 was collected.
The Wings and Sabers Society,
which sponsored the game, was a
little disappointed in the low
turnout.
Ray Johnson, president of the
club, said he hopes the game will get
a better response next year.

Baseball — The Aggies swept the
Rice Owls Saturday and Sunday,
scoring 28 points in a three-game
series. Aggie hurlers David Flores
(3-2), Rick Luecken (9-3), and Robert
Slavens (11-0), finished up the regu
lar season with 23 of the Aggies 36
victories, and the Aggies have clin
ched at least second place in the final
SWC standings.
Track — The men’s track team
overwhelmed the rest of the field at
this weekend’s Domino-Sunkist
Track Classic in Florida, with Aggie
stalwart Tim Scott named the out
standing performer. Scott won the
discus and the shot-put. Although no
team scores were tallied, Texas
A&M won six events, more than any
other team competing.
