SportsFest: The 1980 Austin SportsFest, the annual spring sports festival, will feature as second weekend attractions Southwest Senior Swimming Championships, WalkFest, South ern National Flying Disc Championships, Celeb rity Allstar Canoe Race, the first annual Sport sFest Hall of Honor and many other events. Magna Carta: The Magna Carta, a centuries-old British charter, will be on exhibit at the LBJ Lib rary and Museum in Austin for one week, March 29-April 5. No flash or other artificial light will be allowed. Dallas-Fort Worth Antique Show: An antique show benefit spon sored by North Dallas-Park Cities Kiwanis Club will be held April 17 through April 19, noon to 9 p.m., and April 20, noon to 6 p.m. It will be at the Women’s Building, Fair Park, 1st and Parry. Tickets are $2 per day, or $3 for four days. TEXAS EVENTS Waylon Jennings: Waylon Jennings will perform April 4, at the Fort Worth’s Convention Center Arena, 9th and Main. Roundup: A trail ride and other activities centered around the Copenhagen/Skoal Rodeo will begin April 18 at dusk, leaving from Barn 8 at the Will Rogers complex, 3300 Crestline in Fort Worth. Houston Festival: The Festival Chicano will be held April 19 at the Miller Outdoor Theater, Hermann Park. Little Joe y La Familia, famous accordionist, and his band from Temple will perform. 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free. Museum: A documentary film by Elliot Erwitt, enti tled “Beauty Knows No Pain,” is showing at the Museum of Fine Arts, 1809 S. Shephard, through May 18. Showing at 12:15 p.m., the film lasts 25 minutes and is followed at 1 p.m. by a guided tour of the “American Images” exhibi tion. The film tells the behind-the-scenes story of how Kilgore College creates the nationally known drill team that performs between the halves of football games. Antique Show: On April 11-13, Friday through Sunday, Carolyn Thompson will produce her 3rd Annual Houston Spring Antiques Show & Sale. It will be held at the Houston Astroarena. Friday and Saturday from noon until 10 p.m. Sunday from noon until 6 p.m. Admission $2.50. Elsewhere Amarillo: The Texas CowBelles are sponsoring the third annual Texas Beef Cook-off which will be held in Amarillo on April 17, during the Texas Beef Conference. The winner of the Cookoff will go on to participate in the National Beef Cook-off to be held in Scottsdale, Ariz. The site of the CowBelle cook-off will be the Texas A&M Re search and Extension Center, 6500 Amarillo Boulevard West. For information call (806) 353- 0681. San Angelo: The Third Annual Original Lamblast will be held April 19 at the San Angelo Fair grounds. Events will include the traditional Working Sheep Dog Trials, Leg of Lamb (men’s legs), Lamb Chop (women’s legs), washer pitch ing, horseshoe pitching, blindman wheelbarrow race and wool sack tossing. Marlin: Marlin Festival Days will be April 19 and 20 in the Marlin City Park. An arts and crafts Big Tent with artisans, both local and out-of-state, will be open to the public. Dancing to live bands, a variety of food, and rides and games will be available. Admission $2 for adults, $1 for chil dren. Magnolia: The Texas Renaissance Festival for the 1980 sixth season is holding auditions for Royal Countenances: Kings, Queens, and other assorted royalty; and other nonroyalty such as grave robbers, beggars, witches, dwarfs, belly dancers, giants and many others.
