The show will air on Houston’s KPRC-TV, Channel 2, at 6:30 p.m. The program, “The Eyes of Texas,” will present a history of the Ross Volunteers through a slide show and narrative. Several in terviews of present members were conducted for the show. By TIM JASEK City Reporter A proposed shopping center to be built at the corner of Highway 30 and Dartmouth Street was rejected by the College Station City Council Thursday night by a 5-2 vote. The project was voted down after Clinton Phillips and Linda Smith, both city residents, pointed out acceptance of the project would lead to increased stop-and-go traffic in the area. During the one-and-one-half hour discussion of the ordinance, en gineer Jerry Bishop, who helped de sign the proposed center, said de nying the project would not solve the Highway 30 traffic problem. Councilman James Dozier said there is no need for such a project because of nearby Woodstone and Culpepper shopping centers. School District to hold joint elections in the future. Dozier also said passing the ordiance could lead to acceptance of future commercial projects in the presently vacant area since it would be discriminatory to reject some and accept others.
