MOSCOW — Soviet dissident
leader Andrei Sakharov said in a

by their exile restrictions and de

The document was released by
Sakharov’s wife, Yelena Bonner,
who so far is not under the restric

leaving Gorky.
Sakharov, 58, said two workers,
“ostensibly drunk,” came to his Gor

sence of a full-time surveillance team
that has stopped visitors in the past.
“They were toying with a pistol,”
the document said. “The guy who
was holding the gun boasted that he
was a very good shot. They
threatened to stage another Afgha
nistan in our apartment and destroy
about staying here (in Gorky)
because a space has already been
served for them at an insaneas)i
nearby. ”
Sakharov said he was sumi
to the Gorky prosecutor's offi
day and told he was violat
restrictions of his exile by
contact with foreigners, ei
through a second party,
“The deputy prosecutor mai
explicitly clear that if I peniil
violating the terms of the exile, b
