Students try for the chance to compete as individuals in the® | National College Rodeo Finals, said Jim Price, president of the d. The club meets every the first and third Tuesday of every monlli p.m. Out of 50 members, 40 participate in rodeo events suchasi riding, calf roping, barrel racing, steer dogging and team roping Price, a senior business major from Ingleside. The rest of the members help with the rodeos that theclubspo® These include the All-Aggie Rodeo held in the fall and the inlet legiate rodeo held in the spring. The students sell concessions, and announce the rodeosanJ licize them. Students wishing to join the rodeo club need notpt pate in rodeos, just show interest in them, he added. From October to May, there are between 13-15 intercoleg rodeos in which club members participate. The first one thisseasi being held in Uvalde through Saturday. Regional contests are held in late May, with Texas A&M part:;: ing in the southern region. The top two teams and individuals! regional contest will qualify to participate in the National&1 Rodeo Finals which will he held in Lake Charles, La., nextjis Last year several Texas A&M Rodeo Club membersqualifieit: national contest. Mark Ivey won the southern regional title in tie-downcalfiq and went to the national contest. A brother team, Mick mli O’Brien, were in the team roping event, and Beverly Ackonwase girl’s breakaway contest. Each year the club sends a queen contest representative to national contest also. Texas A&M’s representative, Glenda Chapman, a senior management major, placed fourth in Iasi contest. A new representative will lie selected in the spring The club sponsors the All-Aggie Rodeo each fall.
