The judges chose singer Brenda Schefflet second runner-up, the 'l (i rocl band Spectrum first runner-up, anJ named the barbershop quartet Full House the show’s winning act. Emcees Woody Woodruff and Tommy Bums kept pace between aet| with a steady patter of jokes. songs and improvisations and Texas A&M’s Reveliers opened and closed the show with several pop numbers. The variety of acts in between the show’s opening and closing included several singers, pianists, belly dan cers, barbershop quartets, an im personator and a ventriloquist. The University of Texas Dance Team performed a number of modern dance routines both before and after intermission. The audience, which completely filled the lower floor of Rudder Au ditorium, received all the the acts well, but “Full House,’ a barber shop quartet, stole the show. It got a standing ovation for its renditions of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame ’ and “Lay Me Down in Forest Lawn.” Group members were Christopher Liles, Les Hill, Doug Batista and Mitch Reeves. Judges for the event, sponsored by the Memorial Student Center Council and Directorate, were, Robert Wenck, Director of the The ater Arts Department of Texas A6cM; Penelope Kosztolnyik, local musician and composer; and Buddy Brock, owner and president of the Brock Agency of Houston which fea tures music and entertainment.
