Thursday, March 8 CEPHEID VARIABLE: “House on Haunted Hill.” (1958) Vincent Price stars in this classic ghost story that involves walking skele tons, blood-dripping ceilings, mysterious servants, disembodied heads and groaning doors. At 8 and 10:30 p.m. in the Basement Coffeehouse. BASKETBALL: The women will compete in the SWAIAW Regional Championship through Saturday. ENGINEERS: The Texas Society of Professional Engineers will meet at 7:30 p.m. in Room 103 of Zachry. TENNIS: The women’s team will host the University of Texas at 1:30 p.m. in College Station. Friday, March 9 VETERANS: The Veterans Club will hold an organizational meet ing at 5 p.m. in Room 201 of the Physics Building. All veterans are welcome. Saturday, March 10 BASEBALL: The team will compete in the Hurricane Invitational Tournament in Coral Gables, Fla. through March 18. Monday, March 12 SPRING BREAK: The Spring Break holidays begin today. Tuesday, March 13 FCA: The Fellowship of Christian Athletes meets every Tuesday night at 8 p.m. in the Letterman’s Lounge, G. Rollie Whie Col iseum. Wednesday, March 14 SW /!^ I , N k? : The swim team travels t0 Pittsburgh to compete in the AIAW National Championships. The tournament runs through Paul McCartney Paul McCartney and Wings will be featured in a 90-minute special, “Wings Over the World,” which is a collection of footage from the group’s world tour of 1976 plus a profile of McCartney’s career since the Beatles broke up in 1970. The program will air March 16 on CBS, and provides films of the tour that have never been publicly shown. Except for news coverage at the time, no films of the tour have been re leased. As one of the two chief songwriters and personalities within the Beatles, McCartney has held an important place in the lives of literally millions of his followers, both during his years with the group and after their breakup. Unlike other members of the group, or any of the Beatles’ musical col leagues, he has remained an entertainment figure with ap peal to all ages. In 1976, audiences crowded auditoriums all over the world to spend an evening with Paul McCartney and Wings. The 10 years that had passed since his last American stage ap pearance increased fan anticipation. Among the selections performed in the concert footage are “Band on the Run,” “Yesterday,” “Live and Let Die,” “Jet” and “Silly Love Songs.” Wings’ success has been recorded in a number of gold and platinum albums, and their 1977 release, “Mull of Kin- tyre,” is now the all-time bestselling single in Britain. focus THE BATTALION COVER Very few musicians can silence a roomful of conversation as well as Eugene Smith can.
