I think they’re a high scoring outfit. I would think they probably play a press-and-run style. They’re a good team because they’ve been in SALAD-SANDWICH-SOUP Now open for your convenience in the basement of Sbisa Dining Center. Salad priced by the ounce and sandwiches by the inch. They went to the NCAA tourna ment last year and they’re going to the NIT this year.” Is the NIT invitation a fitting re ward for the Aggies, who will go into the tournament with a 22-8 season record? “I think that’s the way you’d have to look at it,’’ Metcalf said. “I ha ven’t talked to the players yet. But my thinking is that as long as we re doing something with that ball, it’s going to help us further down the line. I think it will be a good experi ence.” In order to get to the semifinal competition in New York’s Madison Square Garden, the Aggies would probably have to win three road games. With spring break next week, it is doubtful that a game will be played in G. Rollie White Col iseum. “I’m excited; I’m looking forward to it,” junior Dave Goff said. “Everybody (on the team) was pre tty letdown this weekend, losing the way we did and missing out on the NCAA. “But this will give us a chance to show what we can do and I think as the week goes on we ll get more and more excited.” Texas Tech will host the Univer sity of Indiana. “It’s a great thrill to be invited,” said Tech coach Gerald Myers. “I’m very happy for our players, espe cially our older guys, like Geoff Huston, who have worked so hard.” Texas and Oklahoma will meet in Dallas next Saturday in basketball — on the opening weekend of the NCAA tournament. If you are not covered by a retirement plan you can still qualify for a tax-sheltered savings plan that reduces 1978 income tax. The Individual Retirement Account (IRA) offers self-employed workers (and others not covered by any pension or retirement program) an easy way to set aside savings and reduce current income taxes. The maximum amount, established by law, is 15% of income or $1,500 (whichever is less). Married workers can set aside a total of $1,750 if their spouse is not employed. A new feature of the law this year permits workers to exercise their option to create an IRA for 1978 income any time before they file their 1978 income tax return (normally prior to April 15, 1979). So you still have time to take advantage of this tax savings. Every IRA dollar invested in BBGFL earns 8% interest (an effective annual yield of 8.33%), the maximum interest permitted by law. No financial institution can pay you more. It’s easy to set up an IRA with BBfiPL. We’ve streamlined the procedure and minimized the paperwork. You can handle all the details in one visit. For information on your specific tax situation, talk to your accountant or your attorney. For information on IRA, talk: to Hazel Holland, BB&I/s IBA specialist.
