THE BATTALION
COVER
There are many old houses in Bryan, and to go with
some of them are ghost stories surrounding strange
events or occurences that have taken place. The
eerie effects provided by trees, falling porches and
former residents’ belongings often add a touch of
reality to the legends. Stories abound about other
places too, including many of the old cemeteries
found in this area, and some of them are so real as
to be positively scary.

Rodriguez, a native of Sabinal,
Texas, is one of the first Chicanes
to become a national star. His re
gional influence has produced a
bilingual, biracial talent that com
bines many of the best qualities
of his dual cultural legacy.
His career began several years
ago while he was in jail. A Texas
Ranger heard him singing in the
cell and introduced him to an
agent. Shortly after that, he
began playing with Tom T. Hall’s
band.
His versatile talent has taken
him from small towns in Texas to
Carnegie Hall in New York. His
concert tours in England and
Canada attest to his international
recognition. In 1972, Rodriguez
was voted Most Promising Male
Vocalist by the Country Music
Association. His songwriting ef
forts have awarded him with six
hit singles and four gold albums.
Some of his most popular hits
include: “Ramblin’ Man,” “Love
Put a Song in My Heart,”
“Spanish Eyes,” “Just Get Up
and Close the Door” and the title
track from his recent album,
"Love Me With All Your Heart."
