Doug Veitch. The rifle range facility under the stands at Kyle Field was closed because of the stadium expansion. “Freshmen in the Corps have been qualifying for marksman ship at Kyle Field since before the war, Veitch said. “Even the Commandant (Col. James R. Woodall) qualified here when he was a freshman. “Th ese are the last of the Mohicans,” Veitch said of the 60-odd cadets who completed seven weeks of marksmanship instruction and training Friday. Veitch said he did not know when or where a new rangefni ity would be built.
