The improvements are part of an annual summer renovation prog ram. This year it involved all hous ing areas on the campus, said Ron Sasse, associate director of student affairs-housing. In the Corps of Cadets area, Dorms 3, 5, 6, 8, 10 and 11 received extensive work. In Dorm 3, which house women members of the Coips of Cadets, individual showers were built in the common baths; other work included painting and lock and door work. Exterior clean ing, sealing and waterproofing were completed on Dorms 3, 5, 8 and 10. New locks and doors, a project involving two dorms a year, were installed in Dorms 5 and 6, dorm 11 received a new roof. Hart and Walton halls in the north dorm area were refitted with new aluminum windows and screens. Exterior waterproofing and a new roof are still in progress at Moore Hall. The Hughes-Keathley-Fowler complex had its roofs reconditioned. New lounge furniture, lamps, wall hangings and a carpet for the table tennis area were projects in the Commons, and student room chairs were repaired. In addition, Sasse said a number of rooms were painted in the north area. The complete renovation of Legett Hall, built in 1911, is ex pected to be completed by next fall. Students living in some of the older residence halls are allowed to paint their rooms. Sasse said the work must be approved by the area coordinator, colors must meet uni versity guidelines and the students must provide all materials and labor. The company said Wednesday the toll-free numbers will be in op eration Sept. 11 in Detroit, New York, Atlanta, Kansas City and San Francisco. Herbert L.Misch, Ford’s vice present for environmental and safety engineering, said each call will be answered personally and further tests will be conducted if the complaints appear valid. Misch said similar procedures will be developed to allow Ford car owners outside the five test cities to call a local Ford office with their complaints. On Tuesday, the National High way Traffic Safety Administration warned the owners of an estimated 9 million Ford cars and trucks there may be a problem with the automa tic transmissions. Involved are an estimated 9 mill ion cars and light trucks, 1970 through 1978 models, equipped with C6 or FMX automatic trans missions. Misch said the company so far has not been able to verify the defect nor has it been able to identify any design problem which might cause transmission slippage.
