Page 8 THE BATTALION THURSDAY, JANUARY 26, 1978 Utay’s future still uncertain^ may change to Corps dorm EARN EXTRA CASH By LAURA HENDERSON Utay residents are still eagerly awaiting a final decision concerning the November proposal to convert Utay Hall into a Corps dorm. The proposal was made in order to allow room for female occupancy in what is now Corps dorm space. Dr. John Koldus, vice president for student services at Texas A&M University, said it is too early for him to discuss the possibilities in volved until after he has discussed them with the residents of Utay, especially the leaders. He hopes to meet with Utay president David Carson by the end of the week. Carson said the residents are strongly opposed to the proposal: “We are very upset. We don’t want to leave this area. This is our home. ” “ We’ve gone through this before on campus and it happens no matter what the dorm is,” Koldus said. “People who live together in an area do begin to work together. Every change that’s been made, the resi dents of that dorm have been un happy about it.” One reason Utay is being consid ered is because of problems be tween the Corps of Cadets and the Utay residents. Carson said many of the problems have been solved and Utay residents are now getting along well with the Corps. Koldus said the Corps still has mixed emo tions with some wanting civilians to stay and some wanting them to leave. If the proposal is accepted, Utay residents would be given preference for living quarters. Ron Sasse of the Texas A&M housing officesii there would be plenty of space ij them to go where ever they wantli Sasse also said that a decisis rogram needs to be reached soon beau there are many alterations wkb 1974 b B: The fn exas A6 need to be considered for I rector, Before Campus activities re was iversit The pr ce gyne ription eral d Thursday Physics lecture by Dr. M.
