The “Guide,” compiled and edited by the staff of the Yale Daily News in cooperation with reporters from more than 150 campuses, isn’t meant to please the administrators of the respective schools. Tips relating to applications: — “In filling out your applications . . . don’t lay it on too thick; the people reading your applications have very sensitive bull detectors. Also, don’t put anything fake on it. If they find out about it, as they probably will, you’ve kissed your chance for that school goodbye. — “Keep your parents at least a thousand feet and preferably a thousand miles away from the inter view session. When parents come in, interviews tend to be short, fruit less, and often deleterious. — The pre-admission interview is basically absurd.
