Two remain in ‘81 president race THE BATTALION Page 3 FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21, 1977 Joe Routt 5P£ MCE 1’ r 21 L3 All but two candidates for freshman class president were dis qualified Thursday because their grade point point ration is less than 2.25. Bill Jones and Danny Weinbaum were the only candidates out of six that qualified, and there was some question about their status as candi dates because their GPRs were less than 2.5. Mike Barry, election commis sioner, said the confusion resulted because last year’s rules and regu lations book said the GPR require ment for class officers was 2.5. This year’s book of revised regu lations does not deal with student elections. A booklet was distributed what was supposed to spell out re quirements for election for various offices of recognized student organi zations. But accordiing to Mike Gerst, advisor to the election com mission, due to a clerical error the grade requirement was not specified. The requirement is specified in a student senate bill that revised the requirement from 2.5 to 2.25 last year. Seven other candidates for freshman officers and senators were disqualified because of grades. Fil ing for elections ended Wednesday and Barry said it will not be ex tended.
