Lance airplanes reported!
flew political missions
United Press International
WASHINGTON — Investigators
have discovered that airplanes op
erated by Bert Lance s Georgia
bank made hundreds of “unex
plained” trips in 1975 and 1976,
many believed to have been for
political purposes, sources said yes
terday.
A spokesman for Lance s Office of
Management and Budget said he
was told at least two trips were
made on hank aircraft to last year s
Democratic National Convention.
He disputed the “hundreds” figure.
It could not be determined if the
National Bank of Georgia was reim
bursed for the unexplained flights or
whether they were paid for by bank
funds.
PI
Labor Secretary Ray Marshall,
interviewed yesterday on the
CBS-TV’s “Face the Nation,” said of
the growing inquiry into Lance’s
personal finances, “It’s obvious he
cannot devote his full attention to
that job while he’s worried about
these other charges that lie’s
be concerned about.”
The Americans for Deiaj
Action issued a statement
Lance’s resignation, sayingif
