Straus will receive $1,500 for the fall and spring semesters. She earned a perfect 4.0 grade point ratio her first semester and had a 3.82 in the second giving her Dis tinguished Student status. Price, administrator of the biomedical science program in Texas A&M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, has been ap pointed to an HEW committee that will review and recommend veteri nary medical construction applica tions involving federal funds. Price, professor of veterinary physiology and pharmacology, will be in Washington July 25-27, then travel to San Juan, P.R. to serve as consultant to the University of San Juan in planning a baccalaureate degree program in veterinary medi cal technology. Adkisson given entomology award Dr. Perry L. Adkisson has been presented the outstanding Entomologist Award by the Central Texas Chapter of the American Re gistry of Professional Entomologists. Adkisson, who has been head of Texas A&M’s Department since 1967, was cited for his overall work as a leader in entomology at both the state and national level. Women engineers get national award Two women aerospace engineer ing students from Texas A&M scooped up the only two sophomore scholarships for the entire nation awarded by the American Institute campus activities of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 1977-78. Theresa Jordan of Houston and Angelica Perez of Laredo won the $1,000 scholarships over all the entrants in the U.S. Both are aerospace engineering students and members of Texas A&M’s engineering cooperative (work-study) education program. In the fall, the two women will spend the semester working for NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. Brown, Kriehel get agriculture awards Special awards will be given to Dr. Herman Brown and Dr. Elmer Krebiel by the Vocational Agricul ture Teachers Association of Texas. Brown is a teacher educator in the Agricultural Education Department and Krehbiel is a Beef Cattle Specialist at Texas A&M University. The awards will be given at the In-Service Education Workshop for Vocational Agriculture Teacher Au gust 1-5 in Dallas. Dr. Lusas named research director Dr. Edmund W. Lusas was ap pointed associate director of the Food Protein Research and De velopment Center at Texas A&M. At Texas A&M’s R&D Center, Dr. Lusas will direct efforts to find engineering solutions to food prod uct and food ingredient processing problems. He will also help develop new forms of food ingredients Bustad to speak at graduation Dr. Leo K. Bustad, dean of vet erinary medicine at Washington State University, will speak at Aug. 5 commencement services for 135 A&M veterinary medical students. Ceremonies are 7:30 p.m. in Rud der Auditorium. C.E. department receives grant Bechtel Foundation presented $1,500 yesterday to support the field of civil engineering at Texas A&M. The unrestricted grant was deli vered by 1957 A&M graduate O.H. White, Bechtel Inc. engineering- manager in the refinery and chemi cal division, and John M.
