Shipment of oil to he stored in Nederland United Press International NEDERLAND, Tex. — The first shipment of more than one billion barrels of crude oil on its way to be stored in Louisiana’s salt domes ar rived in this small southeast Texas port yesterday. The Federal Energy Administra tion plans to store the government- owned oil in the domes as a safeguard against a future Arab oil embargo, a spokesman for Sun Oil Co., which is handling the transfer. The first shipment of 412,000 bar rels of light Arabian crude oil was unloaded from a tanker yesterday and will be transferred by barge through the Intercoastal Canal to salt domes near Hackberry, La. Most of your Mideastern oil has high sul phur content. However, Victor said he had eliminated the possibility the sticky petroleum substance might be a low-sulphur crude which spilled from a ship offshore and floated onto the sandy resort area on Monday’s high tide. “That narrows it down to two pos sible sources: that is, possibly from a iship that is carrying crude oil from South America or Indonesia — sources where they have low sul phur content — or it could be a natural crude from a seepage, pos sibly off Mexico.” Victor said the oil, which amounted to about 50 barrels, did not spill from the Stavros G.L., the largest supertanker ever to unload off Texas. ^Weirdwands Weird wands NEWI The fun game for everyone 300 =x»c 300 ... whether we have not lost by refinement some ener gy, by a Christianity, entrenched in establishments and forms, some vigor of wild virtue.
