In this way we can make the best use of research developments at Texas A&M.” One of the first operations of the new office will be to take a number of A&M inventions to a technology transfer world’s fair in Chicago in February to locate potential custom ers or licensees who are seeking in ventions to develop. Lefner is presently confining his activities to projects being funded through the Texas Engineering Ex periment Station (which administers funds for research from the legisla ture, state and federal agencies and private industry), but says he will be happy to answer questions from any one outside of TEES. Patents can be applied for on in ventions or discoveries of “a new or useful process, machine, manufac ture, or composition of matter, or any new and useful improvement thereof.” The stipulations are that the in vention must have utility and the applicant for the patent must estab lish novelty in a patentable sense. The invention must also be nonobvi- ous at the time of invention to a per son having ordinary skil in the art to which it pertains. Non-patentable subjects include: theories, ideas, plans of action, re sults, methods of doing business, discoveries of laws of nature or scien tific principles, things immoral or in jurious to health and the good of so ciety, and works eligible for protec tion under the copyright laws. downstown OKftf.NOUJ, YOU W0RKTHE RIGHT FLIPPER, AND I'LL vloRKTHE LEFT.
