The prosecution concluded its case in Miss Longet’s felony man slaughter trial yesterday, and Dis trict Court Judge George Lohr de nied a defense motion to dismiss charges for lack of evidence. The defense presentation was to begin today. Defense attorney Charles Weedman said he expected Miss Longet to testify tomorrow. Detective David Garms yesterday testified he knelt on the hospital floor in front of Miss Longet, after Vladimir “Spider’ Sabich had been pronounced dead of massive internal bleeding, and listened to the dis traught woman’s account of the shooting. Garms, a former undercover nar cotics agent, said he first advised Miss Longet of her rights. “She said Mr. Sabich was showing her how to use the gun. She indi cated she playfully pointed the gun at him, made a gesture and said, “Bang, bang’ and the third time she was going to say ‘bang’ the gun went off,” Garms said. Garms said Miss Longet told him Sabich had explained a red dot on the side of the weapon meant the safety was oft. He said Miss Longet had seen the red dot before she pointed the weapon at Sabich. Garms also testified the former Las Vegas showgirl showed symptoms similar to those of someone on drugs. Garms’ testimony contradicted that of Sheris’s Deputy Mary Wig gins, who was in the hospital room when Miss Longet was questioned. Miss Wiggins said the defendant told investigators the safety catch was on when she pointed the gun at Sal Andy Williams, Miss Lons former husband, denied allegat he referred to the mother ofhistl^ children as “a crazy gal who liJ take chances.” Miss Longet and at leasl;| woman on the jury wept 4 | Williams testified his former* il explained the accident to him »■ morning after the shooting asi 1 walked to pick up their threed dren at an Aspen neighbor’shoa “It was very emotional. I was ing when I saw my children,’ Williams, who added hisformen I said she would have told himf® had meant to kill Sabich. Williams’ testimony contradkti that of Peter and Mary Greet I Sabich’s neighbors. “She is a crazy-type gal wholil to ski fast, likes to drive fast andli^ to take chances,” the Greeil quoted Williams as saying. Adamson displays emotion in reporter s murder trial Re United Press International TUCSON, Ariz. — Silent mystery man John Adamson, accused of murdering reporter Don Bolles, aimed a rare show of emotion yes terday at a prospective juror who admitted prejudice against him. Adamson, normally pokerfaced toward potential panelists who openly say in court they believe he is guilty, nodded vigorously and with apparent disgust at the juror, who said he could not be fair be cause he believed the defendant was suspect in the June 2 car-bomb slaying. The potential juror, a laboratory technician, said under questioning by Superior Judge Ben Birdsall that he thought Adamson, 33, a dog breeder, “was involved or knew who was involved in the death of the prize-winning Arizona Republic reporter. He told Birdsall that perhaps “or ganized crime’ was involved also. From behind his dark glasses, Adamson at first studied the man carefully. His defense attorney, Gregory Martin, challenged the potential panelist by telling Birdsall he was not satisfied with the man’s state ment that he would try to return a verdict based on evidence rather than his feelings. “Mr. Adamson is entitled to cer tainty,” Martin said. The judge agreed and asked the juror how he would like a person Cues Gilmore visi Typ 1 Limi with his feelings to be sittinjE jC ’ lters judgment if he were in AdaroAh pk position. Birum ‘‘I would he hesitant,” panelist said. Adamson nodded toward panelist and showed his disgii Martin demanded the prospect] juror he dismissed and thejuil concurred. Birdsall did, however, seat panelists, raising the total yesteri to 26 for a list of 37 from whiditi jury will he chosen.
