Ticket distribution policy modified for spouses, dates While the Aggies were setting a school record for total plays with 792, they put the ball in the air only 85 times, or barely over ten per cent of the time. Such figures seldom be guiled opposing defenses on what to expect when A&M had the ball. Photo by Kevin Venner Jamie Vasquez of the Veterans is out at first in their intramural softhall championship game with the Lone Star team. The Veterans went on to win the game, ' however, crushing the opponents 13-6. The Veterans were runners-up for the first summer session crown. c luiquoise Q §lipp MANOR EAST MALL PRICES FROM $6.00 — UP However, Head Coach Emory Bellard has vowed to throw the foot ball more often this fall, saying the team may pass “19 or 20 times a game.” Should A&M quarterbacks David Shipman and Keith Baker be al lowed to test the legality of the pass ing rule they will find a talented group of receivers waiting on the other end of their spirals. Stepping into the shoes of Carl Roaches will be senior Mike Floyd and Henderson Junior College trans fer Randall Teate. Floyd will be earning his third varsity monogram this fall after split ting time with Roaches last year. The 5-10, 170 lb. Spearman product caught only three passes in 1975, but gained 62 yards, a 20.7 yard per catch average. Former Receivers Coach Chuck Moser (he was switched to an admin istrative related job in the athletic department by Bellard because of the NCAA limitation on coaching staffs) is very high on Floyd. “He graded the highest of anybody we had on the team in several games. He didn’t have a lot of passes thrown at him, but he didn’t drop a single ball. He gives you 100 per cent effort on every play. “You don’t notice the split end a lot of the time in the Wishbone of fense,” he continued. “It’s easy for a split end to loaf. . .but you’d be amazed for the effort Mike gave. You ought to watch him in prac tice. . you really have to be a dedicated player to give that much effort on every play.” Teate comes to A&M with some impressive calling cards. He was a junior college all-America, leading the nation with 50 receptions. The highly recruited end has fine hands and great speed — running consis tent 4.5 forties. “He’s a great competitor,” Moser said. “He’s a very elusive open field runner. He can get you the long one and can break away on a short one. I think he’s very exciting to watch.” Teate and Floyd will both shag punts for A&M this fall. Walk-on Doug Teague adds depth to the split end slot. “He did a good job for us in the spring,” Moser said. “He’s one of the best walk-ons we’ve had.” Also waiting in the wings will be senior Robert Verde, a starting out fielder on A&M’s baseball team last year, and freshman recruit Jack Mil ler from Fort Worth Carter River side. Miller combined with another A&M prospect, quarterback C.J. White, to provide an exceptional pass-catch act. At tight end, A&M will have 6-1, 210 lb. Gary Haack out of San An tonio Lee. Haack caught only one pass last year will be playing reserve behind Richard Osborne and David Greeno. Although a little small for a tight end, Moser says Haack is “a superb blocker and a fine receiver as well. For his size he’s as good a tight end as you’d want.” Junior Russell Mikeska will back up Haack while seeking his first var sity letter. The 6-3, 222 lb. Mikeska out of Temple has tremendous po- tentienal, Moser said, but needs work on his blockimg. Chuck Carr, 6-6, 230 lbs. from Garland, was switched from defen sive back to tight end in the spring. A prep all-America at split end and safety, Carr has good speed, once winning the state intermediate hur dles. The Aggies will have added depth at tight end with the acquisition of frosh prospects Phillip Simpson (6-5, 205 lbs.) and Kyle Golson (6-4, 225). Both are East Texas products, hail ing from Nacogodoches and Beau mont respectively. The pair also played basketball, gaining the leap ing ability which is an asset to all receivers. The A&M coaches are very optimistic with the potential of the pair. Moser ernphasized the blocking receivers must provide in order to make the Wishbone successful. On nearly every play where the back springs for a long gain, he is aided by the downfield blocking of a receiver. Roaches and Osborne were very apt at this Moser said. He stressed that blocking by the receivers will again be vital to the offense. By LILLIAN FOREMAN Battalion Staff Writer Football ticket distribution will be different at A&M this fall because of increased enrollment and a limited number of available tickets. All season coupon books may be picked up at the Kyle Field ticket booth located between DeWare Field House and Kyle Field. Student coupon books will be available Aug. 23-Sept. 10. In order to receive a coupon book, a fall fee receipt and ID must be presented if the coupon book was ordered during preregistration in April 1976. If the coupon book was not ordered during preregistration it may be purchased, if any are available, for $16.50. The student’s classification will also be stamped on the coupon book when it is picked up. Classification will be determined by the number of hours shown on the fee receipt or by the ID number. If the classification is incorrect on the fee receipt, verification of hours must be obtained from Records, Coke Building 007 prior to receiving the coupon book. Student spouse coupon books, if available, will be sold for $42 Sept. 1-10. A student’s fall fee receipt, ID card, and both student and spouse drivers licenses are required for ver ification. Student date coupon books will be sold for $42 Sept. 3-10. Home game tickets will be dis tributed to student season coupon book holders on a random basis ac cording to classification.
