THE BATTALION FRIDAY, MAR. 12, 1976 Page 3 Comet West 'IOU ■ "^nay be visible i • early risers fiinguejij iniega?! L A comet 20 times brighter than Kohoutek is now visible in the early morn ing eastern skies, but to see it you’ll have to get up at 5 a.m. Dr. Ronald A. Schorn, an astronomy pro fessor in the department of physics, said the comet, Comet West, first became visible to the naked eye last week. The comet should remain visible for two more weeks and after that can probably be seen through a telescope for several weeks, Schorn said. The best way to see the comet is from a dark area about 5 a. m. The comet will be in the east, about 15 degrees above the hori zon. Comet West is the brightest comet to appear in the past five years and is surpas sed in brightness by only two other comets in the past 50 years, Schorn said.
