Gramm will speak on “The Na tional Economy.” He is an outspoken opponent of Big Government and has frequently attacked government’s attempted manipulation of the economy. Last year the same survey was conducted by the Married Student Council with encourag ing results from the married students, Stearman said. Earlier this semester, the Student Senate passed the rec ommendation of having “or University-owned apartments” stricken from the regulation, Stearman said. Methods of control could consist of a deposit, a leash law, vaccination records according to College Station ordinances, weight and size limitations, and designated areas for pets in each complex, Stearman said. Last year’s 1,306 total re sponses, represented 65 per cent of the population of the University-owned apartments, Stearman said. This recommendation is now being reviewed by the Univer sity Regulations Committee. Two questions are asked on the survey. The controversy at this point A decision made now on the pet situation would not take ef fect until next fall, when the new University Regulations booklet will be available, said Stearman. As the situation now stands, many married students have pets, and the chosen few who have been reported and penalized have either moved away or given up the animal, Stearman said. The motion, filed Tuesday in fed eral court, contends that a remark by a U.S. marshal prejudiced the jury. The six former narcotics officers were convicted last week of conspir ing to violate citizens’ rights by il legal wiretapping, theft and abuse of drug suspects.
