Medical degree plans expanded Baylor College of Medicine and Texas A&M University have j expanded their affiliation to include a joint Ph.D. degree pro gram. Texas A&M and Baylor College of Medicine are partners along with Scott and White Memorial Hospital and Clinic and | the Veterans Administration in a new medical education prog aram scheduled to enroll its first students later this year. The two schools previously initiated a cooperative program in graduate-level instruction and have jointly conducted research in medically related areas for several years. The diploma of a person successfully completing the joint degree will display the names of both Texas A&M and Baylor Centennial prof scheduled Dr. Lysle H. Peterson, vice president for professional and developmental affairs at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, will give three lectures this week as a visiting centennial professor. Peterson’s first lecture, trends in simulation of biological sys tems, is noon Wednesday in room 203, Veterinary Medical Administration Bldg. Trends in health care delivery will he discussed Thursdayal 11 a.m. by Peterson in room 201 of the Veterinary Medical Science Building. foliti Vet registration continues Veterans attending Texas A&M on the GI Bill must appearal the Veterans Administration liaison office on campus before March 17 if they intend to attend summer classes and continue receiving benefits. Registration for the first summer session is May 31. Veterans must certify summer attendance in the first half of March in order for GI Bill payments to begin on time. Staffer elected to area post Jerry Needham, Battalion staff writer, was selected vice- president of the Southwest Journalism Congress this past weekend. Needham and other Battalion staff members attended a three-day session of the congress on March 4-6. The Battalion received two awards at the session. One was credited to LaTonya Perrin, 1974-75 managing editor, for the 3rd-best front page layout.
