When added to these bonds they form fluorocarbons and chlorocarbons. “Fluorocarbons have many uses from substitutes for blood, to dirt re- pellant, to aircraft hydraulic fluid,” Rodgers said. “Chlorocarbons are used in insecticides and cleaning fluids. “They have very interesting prop erties and are univeral in applica tion,” Rodgers went on. “When you go from brake fluid to body fluid you’re really covering some terri tory. ” He has been doing research in this area since 1960 when, as a 3-M em ploye, these compounds were being looked at as a potential rocket fuel. Scientists say that depletion of the ozone layer would increase the amount of ultraviolet radiation reaching the earth which might shorten man’s life span. FIELDS FESTIVAL Little Chickadee with Mae West Never Give A Sucker An Even Break ARE AMERICANS NATURALLY RELIGIOUS? Maybe they’re naturally in dustrious, inventive or frontier- oriented. But naturally religious? No. 85 million Americans have no expressed faith. Millions more don’t practice the faith they pro fess. Millions more, every year, drift away from faith altogether. If you believe in the power of the Gospel of Jesus and think His Gospel still has something to offer America, then maybe you should investigate the Paulist way of life. The Paulists are a small com munity of Catholic priests who have been bringing the Gospel of Jesus to the American People in innovative ways for over 100 years. \Ve do this everyday through the communication arts—books, publications, television and radio —on college campuses, in par ishes, in missions in the U.S., in downtown centers, in working with young and old. We don’t believe in sitting back. Do you?
