Chairmanships open for MSC committee c
The MSC Council and Directo
rate is now accepting applications for
the chairmanships of all Student
Programs Office (SPO) committees.
The committees include such or
ganizations as Aggie Cinema,
Cepheid Variable, Great Issues,
SCONA and Political Forum, which
are the sponsors of almost every
speaker and movie presented on
campus.
John Nelson, vice-president of
administration on the council, said
that any student may apply who has a
2.4 GPR even if he has no previous
committee experience.
“The 2.4 GPR requirement has
been waived on occasion,” Nelson
added.
Committee chairmen are respon
sible for appointing the committee’s
other officers and coordinating ac
tivities through the MSC Council
and Directorate.

John Oeffinger has been named
president of the MSC Council and
Directorate for 1976-77.
The announcement came after a
closed session of the MSC Nominat
ing Committee last night. Oeffinger
is presently chairman of Political
Forum.
The Opera and Performing Arts
Society (OPAS) received full com
mittee status upon approval of the
Council. OPAS has been part of
Town Hall since its creation three
years ago. Programming and finan
cial details for the committee will he
handled as they have been in the
past.
The Council also approved budget
increases for two MSC committees,
Basement and Cepheid Variable.
Cepheid Variable received a $900
increase in its budget for the re
mainder of the academic ya
