Page 4 THE BATTALION WEDNESDAY, DEC. 10, 1975 Final exams destroy friendship, eyesight By CE COWART Battalion Staff Writer The long nights begin when light bulbs and eyes burn out. Books and notes covered with cobwebs now become objects of the Evelyn Wood’s speed reading course. Roommates, once drinking bud dies, now throw precious Coors cans at you. After your roommate drives you out into the cold — where do you go with your books heavy in your hands? You wander over to your girlfriend’s house but her roommate has kicked her out too. Your girl had locked herself in the bathroom and threatened to cut herself with a Biology razorblade. You begin to wonder if you can bor- > NEEVSNEI . You remember that starting this Sunday the library stays open 24 hours a day until Wednesday night of exam week. As you walk through the filled cubbyholes you find an empty space. After setting yourself and your books down, you try to remain alert to fend off anyone who wants to steal your chair. Then, when you have established your territory, you open your books and start reading. Slowly your head nods and as you open your eyes to stay awake, the last thing you see before your face hits the book is Pauling’s chemical bonding theory. After you wake up, you realize you need a cup of coffee. So off you go to Sambo’s or Denny’s where you sit like a dummy in a wax museum. You don’t even twitch when your nose falls in your coffee. But the management is nice and doesn’t move you. By the time you realize the coffee isn’t going to work, there are six others just like you sitting at your table frozen in still life. As you leave you remember your books are back at the library. After recovering your books you head for a nice quiet hotel lobby. On the way you keep wondering if that girl in the library was your sweetheart — she did have a razorblade. You settle yourself down in the lobby of the Holiday Inn in College Station (The one in Bryan is also nice). As you open your books a blaring blast screeches through the air. It seems “The Valentines” are playing in the lounge next door.
