The match was a fast and furious exhibi tion of well played volleyball and after the smoke had cleared, the D’oros had defeated the Ag Volleyball Club team in 2 out of 3 games. The games will be played on the fields across from the ETV studio and on Henderson fields. This will be a round robin tournament with single elimination playoffs under NCAA rules. There will be two classes of play: A division, or Inter national League which will have no limitation on the number of soccer club members on the team; and B division, where only 3 TAMU soc cer club members may be on the roster. Play is open to all TAMU students and faculty with no points in either category, but awards given in division A. of three men and three women playing under powerball rules. In the power- ball rules, there is close adherence to the rules. The ball must be hit with the fingertips or with both arms at the same time or a double hit is called. Players may not cross the line under the net nor may they at anytime touch the net. A served ball striking the net automati cally changes possession of the ball to the other side. In Co-Rec, if the ball is hit more than once on a side, at least one of the hits must be by a member of the opposite sex. The games are played to 15 points or 15 minutes, whichever comes first. A team must win by at least 2 points. In the first game of the match, these well-matched teams played a very close contest and at the end of 15 minutes the score was tied 11-11. The Ag Volleyball Club made then two points and that put them ahead 1-0. In the next game, which was also very close, it was 11-10 after 15 minutes with the D’oros on the losing end. They came back, however. and in overtime play went ahead 14-12 to tie the series 1-1. In the decisive third game, the D’oros took command from the begin ning and thanks to the efforts of Simone Basagoitia and Junior Nidi, their lead ing spikers, forged ahead of the Ag Vb Club and won the game 9-1, thereby clenching the match victory. IM volleyball competition can be seen Mon. thru Thurs. nights on the third floor of G. Rollie White Col- liseum. Both powerball and the more informal jungle ball are played and a good time can be had by all who play and those who watch. Cagers to have scrimmage Coach Shelby Metcalfs 1975 de fending SWC champion basketball squad will make its debut in the up coming season by staging a scrim mage. It will be played Saturday morning at 9:30 prior to the Baylor-A&M football game. The players will be Sonny Parker, Ray Roberts, Doug Mezger, Bob Middleton, Joey Robinson, Wally Swanson, Jarvis Williams, Karl Godine Steve Jones, Brian Holland and Kevin Jones. Barry Davis and Gates Erwin are out with injuries and illness respectively. this weekend to compete in a round robin tournament. However, as chance would have it, the two teams meet each other in the opening match. The varsity, coached by Dennis Fosdick, and the freshmen of Larry Schueckler boast unblemished re cords of 17-0-1 and 10-0 respec tively. Because of the schedule one of them will have to fall from those lofty laurels tomorrow night. Still, there is the possibility of the Ags placing one and two in the tour ney despite the loss. Many of the A&M starters will -not be going on the trip because of class time lost due to previous road trips. However, Fosdick is still look ing for fine performances from both squads. SHAME In October, 1971 — on the 26th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations — the UN voted to expel the Republic of China and seat instead the bloody regime of Mao Tse-tung and Chou En-lai. In recent years, the Palestine Liberation Organi zation has been responsible for cold-blooded murder at the Munich Olympic Games, the slaughter of in nocent children in Israel, hijackings, and kidnap pings. Yet in spite of its constant pleas for peace, the United Nations General Assembly enthusiastic ally welcomed the PLO leader, Yasir Arafat, when he addressed the Assembly in November, 1974! For these reasons, and many others, we believe it is time to Get US out! of the United Nations and declare October 24 a Day Of Shame.
