Coach Dennis Fosdick s water polo squad raised their season mark The first contest saw the Aggies rip apart San Jose 17-5, a team Texas A&M was not supposed to play. The scheduled team, College of Sequoias, was unable to make the trip. Blake Hinman and Jim Yates led the Aggie barrage with four goals apiece. Don Reeser and Bill Yates tossed in three scores with Doug Adamson, Bob Leland and Steve Moore putting in one goal each. Reeser, playing the post position, had two assists to lead the Ags with almost everyone else having one as sist. Reeser had three assists to repeat as the Aggies’ top assist man for the night. hut the “further we get into the game the better we’ve been doing." "We re definitely starting to play together as a team.” said Fosdick. "We need to work defensively though. Again, Hinman led the A&M scoring with five goals, Bill Yates had four, Jim Yates and Reeser had a trio of goals and Adamson and Le land each had singletons. “We re playing so balanced I re ally can’t single out one particular player. Those who are probably the most easily noticed are Oran Marksbury and Jim Yates; they ve really been playing team ball," said Fosdick. Referring to the defense, Fosdick said his players need to leani to foul more, since the rule changes make it conducive to do so. The foul rules are much like those of international basketball where fouls become a part of game strategy. The Aggies are having some prob lem adjusting to the time difference A&M is facing the toughest (Tart of their road trip today as they take on three opponents. The Aggies meet Fresno State, one of the few teams to defeat the Ags last year, Diablo V'alley College and conclude their California trip against De Ana College. In so doing, the faculty-student committee reversed a decision it made four years ago allowing athletes who were not academically qualified for admission to enter SMU under a special admissions policy. In 1974, 23 athletes were admit ted under the special category; in 1973, 16; in 1972, 17; and in 1971, 11.
