The trophy is given an nually to the top three schools ac cumulating the most points during the competitive season. A&M cur rently shares the trophy with the University of Texas at Austin and Texas Womon s University. “We have a very young prog ram,” says Miss Kay Don, Assistant Athletic Director for Women. “Our girls have only been in competition ----- OFF MONDAY-SATURDAY 10:00 - 6:00 * .... We feel we have developed a good, strong program considering most of the other schools have been competing much longer than us. We have a wide var iety of sports to offer girls who are interested and we are looking for ward to another profitable year. ” Tryouts for tennis, softball, vol leyball, and swimming began Sep tember 1. The opening volleyball tournament will be held September 10 at 5p.m. at Deware Field House. The Second Annual Intercollegiate Softball Tournament will be held at Texas A&M on September 19 and 20. The gymnastic team will begin workouts at 7 p.m. tonight. Golf, track, and basketball are expected to begin within the next week. There are currently seven girls on scholarship at A&M. Lynn Sulak,Meg Maddux, Joan Marshall, Kevan Gunter, and Belinda Arwine are all on track scholarships. Jean Laune Buckles and Darcy Ehmann are receiving scholarships for swimming and track-respectively. Other scholarships are to be awarded after tryouts.
