The $120,000 that will be received will go to making im provements in the department. Dennis Corrington said the budget is essentially broken down into salaries, wages, other expenses such as new equipment, mainte nance, and up-keep and capital out lay. “About $59,000 will go for salaries, $32,000 for wages, $24,000 for expenses and $4,400 for capital outlay,” Corrington said. So it seems that the intramural budget is planned for next fall and many improvements are to be made with the new budget. Between 15 and 20 different sports will be offered next fall, and a total of 35 tournaments will be If you like ^ the old neighborhood but don’t like the old house... then you might consider a home improvement loan from BB&L. The sports that will be of fered during the fall semester are: football, tennis singles, bowling, handball doubles, badmitton, golf singles, field goal contests, swim ming, volleyball, billiards, racket- ball doubles, soccer, table tennis doubles, archery and cross-country. Some new changes will occur in the intramural program. Look for four new softball fields across the railroad tracks. They were made from a complex of eight football fields and should be completed by fall. • Also, there is a change in the times that facilities are open to stu dents. DeWare is open from 7:30-11:00 p.m. each day, and G. Rollie White will stay open until 6:00. There has also been an improve ment made in the lighting of the tennis courts. The lights now stay open until 12:00 p.m. every night. Before, there was a problem be cause students didn’t realize the lights were mercury vapor lights. Tbe problem with that type of light ing showed when students turned off lights when they were through with them and other students didn’t realize that mercury vapor lights need a cooling off period of 10-20 minutes. When students tried to turn on the lights they had a prob lem because the lights hadn’t cooled-off yet. But this problem is all taken care of, Corrington said. The intramural program will con tinue during the second summer session — in case anyone is in terested in joining it. The next summer session will include slow- pitch softball, three-man volleyball, three-man basketball, and racket- ball, tennis, and handball singles and doubles. The intramural office will begin taking entries for the second session July 9-14, so if you are interested in fun, competition, exercise, and sports go by the intramural office in DeWare and sign up. Davis said during the years of the Packer dynasty the team was a cohe sive unit, but said dissatisfaction came to the club after the departure of the late Vince Lombardi as a coach, and the Packers became los- “As we entered the 1968-69 years, there would have been a mass exodus of players,” Davis said. Davis, now a beer distributor in Los Angeles, was contacted by NFL attorneys in a lawsuit brought up by 15 past and present players. The legal action challenges tbe option compensation rule administered by NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle. The rule allows the commissioner to award players or draft choices when a player plays out the option year beyond his contract, and then signs with another team. The plain tiffs contend this interferes with the right of players to bargain for their services. Davis, also a color announcer for NBC, said he is concerned about football, suggesting that the “satura tion point is just around the corner. “It’s something that I have a great feeling about; I would like to see it remain at a high image,” Davis said. He said without the college draft, Rozelle rule and similar devices players would tend to demand too much. ARE YOU PLANNING TO PREPARE FOR THE LSAT THIS COMING SUMMER OR FALL?
