The College Station City Council has not yet acted on the dam project but is expected to later this month. The Environmental Action Council recently condemned the project as environmentally unstable. The Millican Dam Project has been under planning since 1954 and is intended to supply water and re creational facilities for this area. The dam is to be located southeast of College Station on the Navasota River near Millican. The B-CS Chamber also adopted a resolution supporting the initia tion of an east-west bus service through Bryan-College Station by the Texas Bus Lines. The bus ser vice would supplement current ser vices between Austin, Bryan and Houston. The local chamber will ask the Texas Railroad Commission to approve the application. The area’s air service was also a topic of discussion. Paul Nealis, the Chamber’s civic division chairman, said there were over 29,000 incom ing passengers at Easterwood Air port in 1974, higher than estimates made by the Texas Transportation Institute. The chamber established a per manent Air Transportation Com mittee to adress itself to the short and long range challenges of airport requirements. It was suggested the committee include members from Texas A&M, the Brazos County government and the cities of Bryan and College Station. Nealis said that in order for large jets to land and take off now at Eas terwood, the planes must operate at 40 per cent of fuel capacity and 60 per cent of passenger capacity. He recommended increasing the width and length of the runways and the number of holding patterns at Eas- terwood.
