SG decides not to waste Senate time By JAMES SULLIVAN Staff Writer Sharp debate over whether to send a male or female representa tive to the Cotton Bowl highlighted the Student Government executive committee meeting Sunday. John Tyler, SG vice president of rules and regulations, said a female representative would fit the role best, while Karla Mouritsen, SG secretary, opposed what she refer red to as sexism in excluding males from such an opportunity. All finally agreed not to waste Se nate time on the subject Thursday night. The sports clubs are asking the Senate for an increase of $2 per stu dent in Student Service Fees. An increase is unlikely, said Eberhard, who explained more funds would depend on official recognition of the clubs by NCAA and university offi cials. The board also discussed plans to expand the Student Book Ex change. Eberhard proposed to use money from refrigerator rentals to buy books at 62% of the original value and sell them slightly below the general 75% resale rate. Robert Rutledge, student lawyer, expres sed doubt about the legality of such a venture as it is in competition with the University’s franchise, Eberhard said. The Senate is planning to publish a course description booklet inform ing students of each college of pro fessors’ course assignments. All but a few departments have provided the Senate with the assignments. Curt Marsh requested it be given more cost analysis before being brought up before the Senate. In its program to inform the stu dent about professors, the student government is investigating using computers. By using the university’s computers, an esti mated 50,000 questionnaires can be analyzed and compared to last year’s 1,000 that were compiled manually. The results of the questionnaires will be included in course descrip tion booklets next semester.
