(AP) —Joan Ken nedy, wife of Sen. Edward N. Ken nedy, D-Mass., was charged with driving under the influence of al cohol Wednesday after her conver tible was involved in a three-car ac cident, Fairfax County police said. Police said Mrs. Kennedy was administered a breath-alyzer test but would not disclose the results. The charge lodged against her is the only charge in the state of Virginia if alcohol or drugs are detected, no matter how much is found, police said. Mrs. Kennedy, who was later re leased on her own recognizance, was driving southbound on Route ( Campus briefs | TWU invites Aggies to dance Texas Women’s University has invited the Aggies to a dance Saturday from 8 to 12 p.m. with music provided by “Who Cares. Non-TWU students must show a military or college identification card and pay an admission fee of $1. The dance will be in the old Student Union Building on Bell Avenue. Dress will be casual. Europe trip applications being taken Scandinavian Seminar is now accepting applications for its study abroad program in Denmark, Finland, Norway or Sweden for the academic year 1975-76. The program is a living and learning experience for college students, graduates and other adults who wish to experience another culture while learning a second language. The focus of the Scandinavian Seminar is an independent study project in the student’s own field of interest. The $3,200 fee covers tuition, room, board, one-way group transporta tion from New York and all course-connected travels in Scandinavia. A limited number of scholarship loans are available. Student radio positions available Positions are available on the student radio staff for newscasters and investigative reporters. Journalism majors with some experience are prefer red but applicants willing to learn will be considered. Those interested are urged to contact Steve Gray at 845-1073 alter 5 p.m. Volunteers wanted for experiment The Psychology Department is asking for volunteers to participate in a one-month experiment on parent-child interactions. Single parents with children eight or younger are needed for the study. They will be provided free assistance with the children or with household chores for helping in this project. Interested persons should contact Debbie McDonald between 6 and 8 p.m. at 846-9685, or Dr. Christiansen in the psychology department at 845-2554. Judo Club meeting set The Judo Club will hold an organizational meeting on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the wrestling room, second floor of G. Rollie White Coliseum. The meeting will feature demonstrations by Black Belts. All students are invited to attend. Anyone interested should contact Paul Net- tell at 845-2939. Batgirl applications being taken Interviews for the Diamond Darlings will begin Oct. 9 between 7.30 and 9:30 p.m. at Cain Hall. The girls help the baseball team with added support and performing tasks such as score-keeping, picking up bats, chasing fouls and announcing. The area is a Washington, D.C., suburb near the Kennedy home in McLean, Va. The impact knocked the second vehicle into the rear of a third vehi cle, police said. There were no in juries, and police estimated the damage to all three vehicles at $1,400. Mrs. Kennedy, 38, wa.i taken to the magistrate’s court in nearby McLean, Va., where she was re leased. Mrs. Kennedy has spent time in recent months in a New Canaan, Conn., sanitarium and a California rest home for a rest because' of fatigue and mental strain resulting from the illness of her oldest son, Edward Jr., who lost a leg to bone cancer. Richard C. Drayne, the senator’s press secretary, said she left the California clinic last month to join Kennedy at the Boston news con ference Sept. 23 in which he an nounced he would not run for the presidency in 1976. Since then, Drayne said, she has been at their McLean home. He said that no one was injured in the accident. Research team to locate, record historic sites Six Texas A&M people are on a research team locating and record ing archeological and historical re source sites in an area south of San Antonio. The area is in Atascosa and McMullen counties where a lignite coal project is being mapped out by Brazos Electric Power Cooperative Inc. and South Texas Electric Cooperative Inc.
