The Aggies broke the semifinal bracket two weeks ago when they defeated San Antonio 11-7 and Austin 20-18. A victory this year would mark the fourth consecu tive state title year for the Aggies. Heavily favored to bring home the bacon again this year, the Aggies will face an Odessa team, sponsored by the University of Texas, Permian Basin, in their preliminary game at 2 p.m. Satur day. A contest between Fort Worth and Houston will precede the Aggie contest at noon. The winners of both games will ad vance to the championship contest at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Aggies will face the weak er of the four finals teams in Saturday’s action, but the cham pionship game will find two well- matched and determined rugby squads pitted for the final. Rugby, the game used as the pattern to form American foot ball, is a faster pace. One of the major differences in the two games is that the forward pass, the mainstay of many collegiate and professional football offenses, is not allowed. The ball may be passed only in a direction oppo site that of the goal. Also, a player must release the ball when tackled. TAMU’s rugby squad gained national prominence two months ago by winning the National Intercollegiate Championship crown in Baton Rouge. The team’s last major action going into the playoffs was in compe tition at the Monterrey National Invitational Tournament in Cali fornia. The only collegiate team in the tournament, the Aggies finished 11th in a field of 32 highly rated rugby club teams. The Aggies emerged from the prestigious tournament with a 3-2 record, with the widest point spread in Grow A Diarrumd / \ Carl Bussells V/fliAMOND Room Town & Country Center Bryan, Texas All Seats " $2.50 Interstate's CINEMA II 846-6714 UNIVERSITY SQUARE SHOPPING CENTER WHUAM PETER BLATTV'S No Wait For Tickets EXORCIST Sat./Sun—2:40 - 5:00 - 7:20 - 9:40 Nightly At—7:00 - 9:15 The same producer and the same proud, warm feeling that made “Sounder” last year’s best-loved film ^^Radnitz /Mattel Productions presents where the lilies bloom a Robert B. All games Saturday and Sun day will be held on the Drill Field in front of the MSC. A bonus game Saturday will feature the second side, or “B” team championship game between Trin ity and Dallas. The two teams will square off about 4 p.m., de pending on when the TAMU- Odessa game ends. Admission to all contests is free, but spectators are urged to bring their own lawn chairs, since bleachers at the playing field will accommodate about 200. Cowboys, WFL continue battle DALLAS (AP)-The Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League dropped legal actions against Calvin Hill and Craig Morton Tuesday but continued to seek an injunction against the World Football League, which lured away the two stars. In a lively hearing before State District I Court Judge Charles Long, the Cowboys said they would drop individual restrain ing orders against Hill and Morton after both players promised not to do any re cruiting for the WFL until their contracts expire. Hill and Morton have signed 1975 contracts with WFL teams. Still at issue is the main dispute- whether the court will continue to re strain other Cowboy players from negotiating with and signing with the new league. Long recessed the hearing at 7 p. m. Tuesday night until 10 a. m. Wednesday. The recess in effect continues a restrain ing order issued by District Court Judge Ted Akin that was to have expired at 12:05 a. m. Wednesday. Both Hill and Morton were called to testily Tuesday afternoon, as were vari ous Cowboy representatives. Marshall Simmons, Cowboy attorney, asked Long to recess the hearing, saying he was tired, but Long turned down the request. Long’s exhaustion stemmed from shut tles between Dallas and Houston, where a rescinsion of a federal counter injunction by the WFL against the Cow boys enabled the Dallas proceedings to take place. The tug of war began 10 days age when the Cowboys obtained a temporary re straining order in state court that barred the WFL from recruiting, or even talking with, Dallas players. The Cincinnati Bengals obtained a similar restraining order against the WFL but when the team went to court Monday to try to turn the order into a permanent injunction they were denied. The decision of the U. S. District Court Judge David S. Porter thus allowed the WFL to continue recruiting contacts with Bengals players. evin s orner THE BATTALION WEDNESDAY, MAY 1. 1974 Page 9 HOW DO YOU CURE A HORNY BUU OF HICCUPS?
