THIRD BASE THEATRICS were seen in last week’s series with Rice at Kyle Field as a
scuffle erupted between A&M’s Fred Russ and Mike Macha of Rice. After colliding on a
throw to third, (top) blows were exchanged (second) and Aggie coach Tom Chandler and
Craig Hodges (third) hurry to break up the fight. Chandler raises a hand (bottom),
signaling the Rice bench that all is under control. (Photos by Steve Krauss)

WEDNESDAY. APRIL 24, 1974

The Texas Aggies wind up
spring football training with
their annual Maroon-White game
at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Kyle
Field.
It won’t actually be Maroon vs.
White, however. All of the of
fense will be in White and all of
the defense will be in Maroon.
The first half of the g-ame will
pitt the first teams against the
second. Then, the second units
will take on the rest of the squad
the second half. The third units
will handle kickoffs, kickoff re
turns and punt coverage.
Admission will be $3.00 for
adults and $1.00 for high school
age and under. A&M students
will be admitted on their ID cards
and A&M faculty and staff will
be admitted on the covers of last
year’s season ticket books.
The probable depth of the first
two units:

Likely to miss all the action
because of injuries are centers
Henry Tracy and Rocco Wiest,
running backs Jim Hartman,
Ronnie Ragone and Steve Al
mond, LB .Lester Hayes and de
fensive tackle Greg Vornkahl.
Also, letterman safety A1 Thur

baseball team.
Progress this spring has been
good and the Aggies should be a
vastly improved football team
next fall. Forty-five of 51 letter-
men return from last year’s
squad, including 21 of 22 starters.

America
on a shoestring
Here are a couple of great ways to spend
part of your summer, (maybe all of your
summer.) without worrying about gas. A
Greyhound Ameripass, which gives you
unlimited travel throughout America ( $1 65
for 1 month and $220 for 2 months), and
this invaluable guide on sleeping accom
modations along the way. It covers Y's,
college dorms, hostels, no-frill motels,
even crash pads.
You can plan your own trip. Get on and
off the bus anywhere and anytime you
wish. Sleep cheap. Stay as long as you
like. Then hop aboard another bus.
If you haven't been on one of our buses
lately, you're in for a few pleasant sur-

prises. There's nevy legroom. Air cushioned
ride. Rest rooms on board. Real comfort.
So you may decide to spend a few nights
with us on the bus along the way.
Another nice thing: you can bring your
bike along too. We'll carry it in our baggage
compartment at no extra cost. You can do
some extra exploring on your own wheels.
So if your folks voted thumbs down on
your travel plans this summer, here's a
sensible way to reopen the discussion.
Go Greyhound. And leave the driving
to us.
