Richardson Collec tion of Remington-Russell paint ings will be closed Thursday. It will reopen Friday with few er paintings, and Indian hand crafts added to the display. The collection is shown in the ex hibit hall of the J. Earl Rudder Conference Center. Bill Fore, special advisor to the Memorial Student Center Arts Committee, said about 15 paint ings will be removed to protect them from sunlight. “We are working on the sun light problem,” Fore said. “In four to eight weeks, all the paint ings will be back up.” The famous art Collection will show at TAMU through July. The selected paintings, drawings and sculptures by Charles M. Russell and Frederic Remington are on loan from the Richardson Founda tion in Fort Worth. Indian rugs and pottery will be installed Thursday. They are loaned from a local collection and the Hubbell Trading Post, a na tional historic site at Ganado, Ariz., Fore said. Part of the exhibit hall problem has been solved, he added. The air conditioning system has been adjusted to allow no more than six degrees temperature change. Excessive temperature fluctua tions cause expansion and con traction of the canvases, leading to buckling and cracking. Curtains have been installed in part of the glass-walled hall near the Rudder Center theater com plex, to prevent sunlight falling directly on the valuable paintings. Band in Pentagon Music of the Aggie hand is on tap at the Pentagon nowadays. Deputy Secretary of Defense William P. Clements, who visited Texas A&M University for the 19th Student Conference on Na tional Affairs, took an album home with him. On hearing the Aggie Band at the SCONA review, Clements asked if it had been recorded. “Mr. Schlesinger (Secretary of Defense James R. Schlesinger) would like that kind of march music,” Clements was reported to have said. Col. Thomas R. Parsons, com mandant, said, “We had a letter from Mr. Clements saying he needs anothfer one.” Volume 1 of “The Texas Aggie Band” and another stereo LP, “Big! Brassy! Beautiful!” are en- route. bulletin hoard TONIGHT TAMU FLYING CLUB will meet in Room 207 of the Old Engineering Building at 7 :30 p.m. HOUSTON HOMETOWN CLUB will meet in Room 304 of the Physics Build ing at 8 p.m. SOIL AND CROP SCIENCES will present Dr. Harold D.
