41 G-II’ fills vacant
job on Corps Staff
By SALLY HAMILTON
Staff Writer
People seeking the Personnel
Sergeant on Corps Staff will find
a new face this semester.
Granville Lasseter II, a junior
from Midland, replaces Dan
Gibbs, who resigned before semes
ter break. Lasseter, known to his
friends as “G-II,” attended Na
varro Junior College the first
semester of his freshman year.
“I went there to play football but
I couldn’t see much future in the
sport. While I was there I got in
terested in Texas A&M,” Lasseter
said.
Lasseter joined the Corps of
Cadets at mid-term during his
freshman year. He was a mem
ber of Squadron Five and was
promoted to 1st Wing Staff for
his junior year. Lasseter is on
contract with the Marines and
plans to go into the Marine avia
tion program upon graduating
and receiving his commission.
He is a member of the Junior
Class Council, the Flying Club,
and a Ross Volunteer.
Lasseter is filling one of the
main decision-making slots on
Corps Staff.
“This is mainly what Corps
Staff does: to look at every prob
lem and issue maturely and comes
up with the best objective solu
tions and policies to better the
Corps in the future,” Lasseter
said.
