Granville Lasseter II, a junior from Midland, replaces Dan Gibbs, who resigned before semes ter break. Lasseter, known to his friends as “G-II,” attended Na varro Junior College the first semester of his freshman year. “I went there to play football but I couldn’t see much future in the sport. While I was there I got in terested in Texas A&M,” Lasseter said. Lasseter joined the Corps of Cadets at mid-term during his freshman year. He was a mem ber of Squadron Five and was promoted to 1st Wing Staff for his junior year. Lasseter is on contract with the Marines and plans to go into the Marine avia tion program upon graduating and receiving his commission. He is a member of the Junior Class Council, the Flying Club, and a Ross Volunteer. Lasseter is filling one of the main decision-making slots on Corps Staff. “This is mainly what Corps Staff does: to look at every prob lem and issue maturely and comes up with the best objective solu tions and policies to better the Corps in the future,” Lasseter said. Granville Lasseter II Campus Briefs Talent show Auditions for the Aggieland Review, a variety-talent show, will be Feb. 18, 19 and 20 in the Memorial Student Center Ball room. At least one member of each act must be a student, faculty member or staff member. Sign-up deadline is Feb. 15. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top acts on the night of the show, March 30, to be held in Rudder Auditorium. Admission is required for the Sophomore class sponsored show. Gilbert of Colo rado State University will speak on “Natural Resources Manage ment and Public Relations” Fri day. Director Joe McMullen said ear ly registration in December in cluded at least 125 students. “Anyone interested at all or who plays an instrument and wants to know more about the band should be at the meeting,” he said. Band meeting McMullen indicated the band will perform in public this semes ter. Auditions will begin Feb. 11. The first rehearsal will be Feb. 20. William Gross, a gradu ate student in civil engineering, was presented unit colors in Sat urday ceremonies transferring the Army Reserve unit he commands from Hilo, Hawaii to Bryan. Capt. Gross received the unit guidon standard from Brig. Gen. O. D. Butler, commander of the 420th Engineer Brigade and head of the Animal Science Depart ment. Cavalry award Parsons Mounted Cavalry won a prize for its appearance in the Southwest Fat Stock Show and Exposition parade in Fort Worth. The TAMU troop won second for riding groups. The Friday pa rade included 87. A plaque was awarded the unit commanded by Mike Collins of Dallas. An estimated 85,000 people watched the parade.
